Red Carpet Controversy…

As a member of the Television Academy and media outlet, we have to say that the lifestream of the red carpet arrivals was a great idea. The RCR team have produced over 6,000 hours of Livestream experience since 2009 and know it’s not easy… We love NATAS’ embracing of technology and use of social to bring this event to more viewers… and fans.

However…

There has been a lot of chat from other media outlets and celebrities who were in attendance at the Daytime Emmys red carpet… including tweets to run away from the red carpet. Unfortunately, the decision to hire four social media “mavens” with 100k+ followers should have been reviewed more closely.

We’ve live streamed red carpets and our host has been prepared and professional – and non-offensive. I guess using descriptive words like “boobies” work for YouTubers but for an institution like NATAS it created some black eyes and showed a lack of respect for the event, one honoring accomplishments of daytime TV creators, producers and actors. Let’s not accept “trash” talk as acceptable for red carpet events. This is a time to celebrate and acknowledge those who are nominated as well as give hope to those who aspire to be a future nominee and winner.

With that said… here’s the livestream replay, you can watch for yourself and let us know what you think…
